Coffea Philosophae

The Orléans Coffee difference:
Selecting the best beans:
We source the best beans we can from as many regions as possible. When we can get organic, we get it. When we can get specialty coffee, we get it. When we can get organic, specialty, rain forest certified, bird friendly, shade grown coffee, we're ecstatic. We constantly seek new partners to upgrade our bean quality.
Just in time roasting:
That coffee you just bought from the grocery store? Probably roasted some months ago. Coffee is a very volatile product and is only at its best for about 15 - 25 days. That's why we only roast what we need when we need it: when you place your order.
Being responsible about our packaging:
That means we choose the earth-friendly option whenever we can. Kraft paper bags, with recycled paper labels. Our coffee is always fresh, so there's no need for plastics, aluminized bags, and plastic degassing valves.
Roasting to the bean's best potential:
We spend a lot of time and compost a lot of bad roasts finding the roast that brings out the best of each individual coffee. Then we roast our orders in small batches of less than 1 kg, judging with out eyes, ears and nose when the roast is ready.
A fair price:
Did you ever notice that your $18-20 pound of coffee isn't one pound? Coffee roasters have resorted to using tall thin bags to make you think that you are getting a full 16 ounces. Inn reality, you're likely only getting 340g (12 ounces). Your true cost is closer to $24 to $30 a pound! We use squat and fat bags that are always a little overfilled. You always get a full pound plus.
